by way of Alex

Andrew Peters is joining the EF team. Funny to see all of the comments about the growing numbers of kiwis (is it PC for a non-kiwi to use that term?) at Microsoft. :-)

According to my Kiwi friends, they are fine with others using the term. Their only - and major - pet peeve is that Kiwi refers to residents of New Zealand and does not refer to fruit or birds. So never say, "I love to eat kiwis!" within earshot of a Kiwi. They will be quick to correct you to "I love to eat kiwi FRUIT."

James was close, but not quite...

- We love to be called Kiwis
- We hate the term Kiwi Bird... it is just a Kiwi (you don't say Crow Bird do you?)
- The fruit is definitely Kiwifruit (just one word there, not two)

And we happily call the English "Poms" and Americans "Yanks". We never mean it as a derogatory word, we just assume you'll like it like we like being called Kiwis. :o)
