Lenovo's "IBM Thinkpad" Tablet PC - very popular, but frustrating

Avonelle Lovhaug has been waiting for her Lenovo for a long time!

But this is not stopping people from glomming on to the tablet that will finally make the mark for TabletPCs on the end user market. According to this eweek article: “The ThinkPad Tablet has sold so fast since its introduction that Lenovo quickly ran out of stock and is now working to catch up... “

I know that when IBM first announced that it was going out of the computer (i.e. desktops & laptops)manufacturing business, my first thought was what a bad thing that would be for the tablet pc market. An IBM Thinkpad Tablet and a Dell Tablet would really send the mainstream, yet high end, message home, adding clout to the great Tablets already on the market. But many of the high end and  entry level tablets now are not from the big big name manufacturers. So the introduction of the Lenovo tablet with the Thinkpad name and the signature Thinkpad design had a LOT of people drooling (including me, just ask some of the people that I helped out at the Tablet booth at Teched!)

Interestingly, this article from high tech market research firm, In-Stat, predicts that TabletPC sales will quadruple by 2009 (from 2004 figures) - to $5.4 billion.

I sure hope Avonelle gets her Lenovo soon!
