A few weeks ago, I received an introduction email from fellow early INETA volunteer Dave Totzke who runs a big user group in the Greater Toronto area. He was introducing me to Matt Cassell, a 15 year old programmer (who has been programming for more than half his life) who has started an interview program targetted at the academic development community. It's called Academic .NET Radio.
It's a fairly new program. But he started out with a bang, interviewing Ted Neward! His second interview was with an intern at Novell who is from Mexico City and is working on Mono. Next was a .NET developer from Toronto and now me. This is a really cool variety. I'm definitely interested in the academic community so I'm happy to be doing this.
Matt will be interviewing me tomorrow for his next show (#4). But he had one mountain to cross first. He wanted to interview me over Skype and I am a total luddite when it comes to VOIP. I told him that if he could deal with what might be like teaching his granny, and was willing to teach me Skype, that I'd do it.
So, okay, it wasn't so bad after all. Just like i.m mostly. Though I had a firewall problem that we still haven't figured out. I have a quick workaround for the purpose of the interview.
We'll be talking about ADO.NET and also a little about women in i.t.
Slowly, slowly, I am getting closer to geek-ness - the IPod Nano, the new dual monitor setup, and now VOIP. Hmm, what will be next?
