In my last post, I was whining that I have to work for a living, rather than play with new toys such as WCF and Vista all day long. Here is an update on how those problems are coming along.
1) I was finally able to install Windows Vista 5270 by choosing the format option during install. I still do not have glass (this is a Toshiba Tecra M4) and have tried a few known hacks. Although Windows update gave me the nvidia GeForce Go 6200 which was great, I wanted glass and switched to the GeForce LDDM driver and voila I had glass. With no hacks. I haven't gone through the ink functions thoroughly yet, but I have heard that in it's current state, you have to choose between glass and inky goodness with Vista on the M4.
2) I was not able to solve my remote debugging problem. This has brought me hours of joy. I finally uninstalled and resinstalled .NET 1.1 and the remote server components and when i rebooted the server, my administrator account had no access to anything important. It all seems to start with Group Policies that just give up during the boot. After a bunch of research and experimentation, it's looking like a server rebuild! Oh well. I'm suspecting a virus but just don't know and can't waste any more time on that.
3) This weekend I spent about 5 hours solving a bizarre Security Context Token related problem in WSE 3.0 that was causing access denied errors on the web server only when I had SecureConversation enabled. Here is the resolution to that.
Don't feel too sorry for me though. We got nice snow this weekend and I got to go out back country skiing (from my back door lucky me) Saturday and Sunday!
