The IE Developer Toolbar Beta2 was released for download recently. I have not looked at this at all up until just now, but I did download and install it without hesitation when I got the notification email last night. (Here's how to sign up for notifications from the Microsoft Download Center.)
After playing with it for a few minutes on the page I have as my home page, I got to the images menu and quickly had a bright idea.
In Virtual Earth (Windows Live Local), people have frequently asked how to get at the images of the maps. The images are built as a group of tiles. Using the Virtual Earth api, you can get at the tiles collection and then the property "f" will give you the file path of each tile in the collection.
But with the Developer Toolbar, we now have a really fast way, without even mucking with the VE api of seeing the tile information: file path, dimensions, file size and more. There is even a full report of the images on the page.
If you are interested in learning more about programming with Virtual Earth, check out ViaVirtualEarth and also sign up for the Virtual Earth Madness Live Meeting event on March 1st from 9am - 12pm EST.
