A blog for DevSource.com.

This blog was originally part of the blogs.ziffdavis.com site from May 2005 through June 2007 when the blog was moved to the Movable Type blog engine and hosted at blog.devsource.com/devlife.
The original blog was eventually shut down and I was given the posts so that I could host them on my own site.

Databases? Objects? Where do you store your data?

At tonight's GUVSM/DevTeach panel in Montreal, [left to right] Rod Paddock, Alan Griver, Kathleen Dollard, Scott Bellware, Barry Gervin and Richard Campbell duke it out over databases and objects - what we need, what we don't need.  Around the time of this photo, they were answering the question about what happened to Object Sources. Alan Griver has just explained that they evolved in to LiNQ and Rod Paddock has the mike in the pic. Unsurprisingly, Scott Bellware then got the mic to defend the need for ORM everywhere. There's a lot of scary brainpower up there! Ted Neward is the moderator.

Scott the ORM guy and Richard the DBA are probably taking the most heat from the rest of the panel.

Things got a little testy during the break! Here's a shot of Kathleen and Scott horsing around.
