A blog for DevSource.com.

This blog was originally part of the blogs.ziffdavis.com site from May 2005 through June 2007 when the blog was moved to the Movable Type blog engine and hosted at blog.devsource.com/devlife.
The original blog was eventually shut down and I was given the posts so that I could host them on my own site.

Audio spam emails?

I can't believe it! I was deleting a spam email that didn't get sent to my junk mail box. I clicked on it long enough to hit the delete key. But as my finger touched the delete key, I heard a voice come over my speakers. Huh?

So, I went to the deleted mail folder and clicked on the email. “We have 24 color inkjet cartdridges on sale for just 6.99” is what I heard and a jpeg image of paint cans with color showed up in the viewer.

It's the first time I have seen (or heard) anything like this and have no even read about it anywhere, though I'm sure it's been written about before.

There have been emails with totally gross XXX rated pictures poppng into my inbox and the images are just there, embedded into the email. Yucch.

Next thing I know my inbox will be cooing ”ooh baby ooh baby” and my Outlook UI will turn a bright shade of red!
